Mascil is developing Professional Learning Communities that bring together teachers across schools to work together over time to explore – in their classrooms – the implementation of inquiry learning approaches that connect to the world of work. We will call such communities teacher groups in mascil although they may include others such as representatives of industry and other experts that may assist with connecting the group to the world of work.
Each teacher group will meet regularly to consider the issues that are important to them in their teaching and will draw on the expertise of the group coordinator or trainer who will work with the project’s professional development toolkit to inform and stimulate teachers working through cycles of inquiry into their classroom practice.
- How will we work as a teacher group?
- How will we organise our collaboration?
- How can we inquire into our teaching?
In addressing these questions, teachers will consider the essential characteristics of inquiry-focused professional learning communities and develop ways of working as a group that are appropriate to the Mascil model.
