Tool PDA-1: Routes through the toolkit

There are many routes through the toolkit. Your choice of route for a group will depend on the professional needs of the group, the experience of the group, the context in which they are working (e.g. subject, curriculum) and the time available. For example, an established team of teachers may be used to working collaboratively and already know what aspect of professional development they want to explore so tools can be selected to directly address these needs. For a less experienced group it may be more appropriate to work through the tools in order from the beginning to help them develop as professional learning community and then cover a selected issue thoroughly. Alternatively, changes in the curriculum often place new demands on teachers and this may be a useful starting point.

Some possible selections of tools are shown below.

  1. A coordinator and a group of mathematics teachers may choose to follow the course shown below, given six sessions of approximately an hour each.
